Write from your Lock Screen —
then add auto-update if you want

Add “Write to LockBoard”

We distribute a pre-built shortcut — nothing to assemble. Begin on the “Write from your Lock Screen” intro in the app, then tap “Add the Shortcut”. You can also open it directly via this link.

   In the app, tap “Start Setup” → “Add the Shortcut”

   On the page that opens, tap “Add Shortcut”. “Write to LockBoard” appears in the Shortcuts app

   Run the new shortcut once, tap “Allow” at the first-run prompt, then return to LockBoard

One shortcut covers both “write from a button” (asks for text) and “send from the share sheet” (selected text flows in). More screenshots follow as the English walkthroughs are recorded — the Japanese guide already shows every step.

Add a Lock Screen Button and Try It

Swap one of the bottom Lock Screen buttons (flashlight / camera) for “Write to LockBoard”, then write a quick note without returning to the app in between.

   Touch and hold the Lock Screen → “Customize” → “Lock Screen”

   Tap “−” on one of the bottom buttons to remove it, then tap the “+” that appears

   Pick “Shortcut” from the controls list and assign “Write to LockBoard”

   Tap “Done” at the top right, then tap the wallpaper to confirm

   Without returning to LockBoard, lock your screen and tap the button you just placed

   Jot a quick note in the prompt (the keyboard’s mic key works for dictation too)

   Return to LockBoard. When the write is detected, setup advances automatically to “You wrote from your Lock Screen!”

✅We recommend choosing “Continue to Set Up Auto-Update” on the success screen. Choose “Use LockBoard Now” to finish setup here. If Auto-Update is already verified, only “Start Using LockBoard” appears.

Add the Shortcut and Continue Setup

This setup is optional. Start it by tapping “Continue to Set Up Auto-Update” on the Lock Screen writing success screen, or later from Setup in Settings. Stay in the Shortcuts app from adding the shortcut through creating the automation.

   If you continued from the success screen, tap “Add Shortcut”. If you started from Settings, first tap “Set Up Auto-Update” on the intro

   On the page that opens, tap “Add Shortcut”. “Refresh LockBoard” appears in the Shortcuts app

   Run the new “Refresh LockBoard” shortcut once

   Do not return to LockBoard yet. Stay in Shortcuts, switch to the “Automation” tab, and continue with the next section

✓Do not leave Shortcuts until the automation is complete. When you eventually return, LockBoard checks that “Refresh LockBoard” was run after you opened Shortcuts for this setup attempt.

Create the Automation Before Returning

Apple doesn't let apps distribute a “run when the app closes” rule, so this one part is manual. During the same stay in Shortcuts in which you ran “Refresh LockBoard”, switch to the “Automation” tab and continue with the steps below.

   In the Shortcuts app, open the "Automation" tab → tap "New Automation"

   Choose "App" from the trigger list (near the bottom; you can also use the search bar)

   Tap "Choose", select LockBoard, then tap the ✓ at the top right

   Uncheck "Is Opened" so only "Is Closed" stays selected. For the run mode, choose "Run Immediately", then tap "Next"

   From "My Shortcuts", tap "Refresh LockBoard"

   You're done when "When "LockBoard" is closed" appears in the list

   

✅After the automation is created, return to LockBoard for the first time. “Continue” is available only if LockBoard detects this setup attempt's fresh “Refresh LockBoard” run. If it shows “Shortcut Run Not Detected”, tap “Open Shortcut” and run it again.

Try It from the App

   Tap “Make a Test Edit” and change a short note in the editor

   Go to the Home Screen, then open LockBoard again. You do not need to force quit the app

   When auto-update is detected, setup advances automatically to “Auto-update is ready!”

✅Tap “Get Started” on the success screen to finish. From then on, edits update your Lock Screen whenever you return to the Home Screen.

Keep your note always visible

On iPhones with an always-on display (Pro models from iPhone 14 Pro on, iPhone 17, and so on), turn on Display & Brightness → Always On Display in the Settings app and turn off "Blur Wallpaper Photo". The screen no longer goes dark when you press the side button — your note stays visible, just slightly dimmed. "Blur Wallpaper Photo" appears on iOS 26 and later and is on by default.
